We just got back from 8 days in Belize, and I've never been in such a hot and humid environment. The jungle of Belize is no joke, and without AC in 93F +80% humidity, the sweating never ended! But it was a wonderful trip - split between jungle and ocean. Overall, a fantastic time experiencing a new culture, seeing the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, and learning about Mayan history. I'll have more on the trip in the next newsletter. For now, I head out on a work trip to the Oregon Coast before settling down for all of July in Colorado. I'm super excited to hike, backpack, and hike more throughout the Colorado Rockies. I hope the start of summer is going well for all of you and that you're maximizing your time outside. A Wild Mountain Goat EncounterI’ve had some magical wildlife experiences in my life: humpbacks in Hawaii, brown bears in Alaska, polar bears in Churchill, but one experience, high in the Washington state alpine, sticks with me. Mountain Goats in the North Cascades. Two friends and I were on an overnight backpacking trip in North Cascades National Park. After a magical sunrise, we started packing up. Then, seemingly to appear out of nowhere, a half dozen mountain goats joined the party. We immediately stopped what we were doing and grabbed our cameras. One by one, they streamed into view. I had seen mountain goats before. But never in a place like this. And never with them standing in such a photogenic location. The goats, with towering, jagged peaks behind them, meandered around; unbeknownst to them, they were the stars of the show. National Park Spotlight of the Week - North Cascades National ParkWhile we're speaking of mountain goats in the North Cascades, why not dive into one of the most rugged and least visited National Parks in the lower 48? It's in the top tier of my favorite parks. And thanks to living in Washington for three years, I had the amazing opportunity to explore this area.

Happy Friday! Jaimie and I are headed camping on the western side of Rocky Mountain National Park this weekend. It'll be our first time in the Grand Lake/Grandby region. Unfortunately, the main hiking trails off Trail Ridge Road are still inaccessible because the road is closed, but we'll make the best of it. Jaime's worked 12 straight days in the hospital, so it'll be a nice chance to unwind and enjoy fresh mountain air. Plus, we haven't car camped in 18 months, so it's much needed!...

Howdy! We had a weird week in Denver. It dropped 6-8 inches of snow on Wednesday morning, and by the end of the day, it was nearly all melted. And now we have mid-80's coming our way. Talk about whiplash! But it's been much needed to stave off what could have been a TERRIBLE wildfire season. We're no longer in last place for the worst snowpack/winter on record. Congrats to us all. Personally, life's been slow, and I've been enjoying it. I haven't flown in over a month, which sort of seems...
