Save up to 50% on outdoor gear this week Hi ya'll! I always try to be helpful with this newsletter, and I feel that saving you money is a good thing! Just wanted to quickly pop in and let you know that there are some pretty rock-solid deals happening at REI right now. They just marked down a bunch of items by up to 50%, which equals great savings for you. And, I'm pretty sure you've all noticed how expensive outdoor gear has gotten lately. So, anytime I can find gear around half off, I jump...

Howdy! We had a weird week in Denver. It dropped 6-8 inches of snow on Wednesday morning, and by the end of the day, it was nearly all melted. And now we have mid-80's coming our way. Talk about whiplash! But it's been much needed to stave off what could have been a TERRIBLE wildfire season. We're no longer in last place for the worst snowpack/winter on record. Congrats to us all. Personally, life's been slow, and I've been enjoying it. I haven't flown in over a month, which sort of seems...

Happy Monday (or whatever day it is that you find this email in your overflowing inbox)! It's a stormy week in Denver, which means plenty of catching up on work, editing photos, videos, and writing articles. (The fun life of a single-person business owner who has to do everything!) >> My podcast appearance on Hikes and Mics is now live! If you want to listen to us talk about hiking, wildlife photography, travel, my cancer journey, and more, click here. << Or find it on Apple Podcasts and...

Howdy y'all! It's been a while. Life has been hectic with multiple trips across North America since our Costa Rica trip. But I'm happy to be home in Denver and enjoying our beautiful weather this spring. And after getting hurt last summer, I'm really focusing on getting into shape. Being in your mid-30's, I'm realizing I'm not as bulletproof as I thought I was. I was recently on the Hikes and Mics podcast, which will be released in two weeks. Excited to share that with you all! What's inside:...

After spending 16 days exploring Costa Rica, it has quickly risen to the top of my travel pyramid. From the kindness of the people to the natural landscapes of waterfalls, volcanoes, and beaches, to the lively wildlife, I felt transported to another world. I can’t say this for many trips, but this one went off without a hitch, aside from some unseasonal gloom and rain. Still, even with a multitude of research and reading Reddit threads, there were still aspects of Costa Rica you have to...

Happy 2026! This month is flying by, and it's been extra fast with final wedding plans! Yep, you read that right. Jaimie and I are getting married next Monday. *cue fireworks* Not that wedding plan is ever easy, but we're doing it in Costa Rica, so logistics are a bit complicated. Thankfully, we have an amazing wedding planner down there who is making it so much better. (Looking to get married in CR?? Heidy Quesada is incredible!) Next item up: I have about 30 calendars that NEED to be sold....

2025 was an incredible travel year, but for some reason, it also felt underwhelming to the core activities I truly love: Backpacking and hiking. A move from Seattle to Denver occupied a decent chunk of our summer, and then I unfortunately got hurt on the Fjallraven Annual Classic, which wiped out August. This ended up being the lowest mileage hiking year of recent memory, even including the years I had cancer, which is kinda crazy. Still, the year had so many highs, from exploring our new...

Happy holidays to each and every one of you! I'll keep this very short, as this is a longer newsletter. We're sticking around Denver for Christmas. When we moved here, I somewhat figured it would be a white Christmas... or at least some white stuff on the ground. But nope! It's highs in the mid-50s to 60s, and we're getting our tan on! Lastly, I want to say thanks for reading and supporting this newsletter. All I want is to help you guys get outside and enjoy time in nature. I hope I've...

Happy feast week, everyone! Jaimie and I are traveling to the Bay Area to see her family, and it'll be nice to warm up some as Denver's temps are DROPPING! I'm not sure how November flew by so fast, but here we are. I hope you and your families have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Thank you for being here and supporting this newsletter. I truly appreciate it. And if there is anything you want me to cover, just ask! First things first. I think you all enjoy traveling and probably saving...

Hi ya'll! Happy Monday! Jaimie and I went to Chicago this past weekend for her bridal shower with my side of the family. And then we had a big ol' party to celebrate and catch up. I haven't been back to Chicago in 16 months, and it was nice to see family. I also just found out on Thursday that I'll be heading to Canada next weekend for a whirlwind trip to Churchill. I'm still processing it all. When I say I'm shocked. I'm shocked. This was not on my 2025 bingo card. Can't wait to catch you...
